Redistricting

PROP 11 IMPLEMENTATION

Prop 11, the Voters First Act passed in 2008, requires that California's first 14-member Citizens Redistricting Commission be in place by January 2011. The commission will draw legislative district boundaries based on the 2010 census data.

An Applicant Review Panel has identified 120 of the “most qualified” applicants and is conducting interviews. Learn more.


OPPOSE PROPS 20 AND 27

The League opposes Proposition 20, a well-intentioned but premature attempt to add responsibility for redrawing Congressional district maps to the commission’s workload.

We strongly oppose Proposition 27, which would completely eliminate the redistricting commission and return the authority for redistricting to the backrooms of the legislature.
